Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a fireplace service cost?

Fireplace service varies in cost depending on the time and complexity of the fireplace unit. Our basic rates are: $210 for the first half hour, $85 every additional half hour.

Are C. Bennett's technicians licensed?

The state of Missouri does not require hearth service technicians to be licensed. However, C. Bennett service technicians receive approximately six months of training prior to being authorized to service fireplaces. Additionally, C. Bennett technicians receive continuing education and training to ensure they’re qualified to service your particular brand of fireplace (this explains why we cannot service all brands of fireplace).

What does the technician do during a fireplace service?

Our trained technicians will conduct an inspection of your fireplace, including the cleaning and freshening up of logs as well as a thermo-couple inspection for proper operation. Our technicians will also inspect your gas pressure, pilot light, safety switches, air intake and exhaust, test valve assembly for leaks, and bricks for cracks and condensation. In the event that our technician determines that a repair is necessary, C. Bennett will provide an up-front price to get your fireplace in good, working order. Generally, once you authorize the repair(s), parts will be ordered and a return visit scheduled to complete the repair(s).

Are all fireplaces the same?

All fireplaces are different and rarely are parts interchangeable. Specific parts are determined by the make and model of your fireplace.

How do I find the make and model of my fireplace?

The make and model number of your fireplace is typically located on a metal tag located in your fireplace. If you have a masonry wood-burning fireplace but have gas logs, your logs will have a tag with their make and model number.

When is the best time of year to schedule fireplace service?

Between the months of October and March, the demand for fireplace service is higher than normal. As a result, lead times dramatically increase. Existing C. Bennett customers receive priority when booking service. We recommend scheduling service during the non-peak season from April to September.

How often should I have my fireplace serviced?

Your fireplace should be serviced on an annual basis.

Can C. Bennett clean my chimney or do tuckpointing for my chimney?

Unfortunately, C. Bennett does not offer chimney cleaning service or tuckpointing at this time. Our experts can point you in the right direction for this type of service.
